چکیده

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) reactivation in patients receiving systemic chemotherapy has been profoundly investigated in recent years (Li et al., 2010; Torres and Davila, 2012; Wu et al., 2013; Yeo and Chan, 2013; Li et al., 2014). However, it has not been fully evaluated in HBV-related hepatocellular carcinonma (HCC) patients receiving Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) due to limited sample size and amount of studies (Vizzini et al., 2003; Jang et al., 2004; Park et al., 2005; Jang et al., 2006; Peng et al., 2012). TACE is an local invasive chemotherapy to tumor lesion and the surrounding normal liver tissue, both of which is highly associated with chronic HBV infection (Liver, 2012; Arzumanyan et al., 2013). This feature indicated the

Hepatitis B virus DNA negativity acts as a favorable prognostic factor in hepatocellular carcinoma patients.

BACKGROUND This retrospective study was aimed to investigate the efficacy of prophylactic agents in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients receiving TACE and compare the difference between lamivudine and entecavir. MATERIALS AND METHODS A consecutive series of 203 HBV-related HCC patients receiving TACE were analyzed including 91 patients given prophylactic agents. Virologic events, defined ...

Hepatogastric Fistula following Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Hepatogastric fistula (HGF) formation following transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) leads to increased morbidity and mortality. A 51-year-old Caucasian male with chronic hepatitis B virus-associated cirrhosis and unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) presented to the Interventional Radiology Unit for TACE to achieve tumor necrosis. Following the procedure, the patient was admi...

Changes in hepatitis B virus DNA levels and liver function after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma.

AIM   Reports concerning changes in hepatitis B virus (HBV) status and liver function in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) during or after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) have been rare and the results inconsistent. The objective of this retrospective study was to evaluate these parameters in a large cohort of HBV-related HCC patients. METHODS   One hundred and seventy-two hepati...

Genetic polymorphisms of immune checkpoint proteins PD-1 and TIM-3 are associated with survival of patients with hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma

Programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and T-cell immunoglobulin domain and mucin domain containing molecule 3 (TIM-3) are involved in hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study examined the associations of PD1 and TIM3 polymorphisms with the overall survival (OS) of a prospective cohort of 258 HBV-related HCC patients. Results showed that PD1 +8669 G allel...

Polymyositis Associated with Hepatitis B Virus Cirrhosis and Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Polymyositis (PM) is an inflammatory condition of skeletal muscle and is believed to be a paraneoplastic syndrome associated with various types of cancer. PM associated with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is very rare. We report a case of advanced HCC with chronic HBV cirrhosis that presented with proximal muscle weakness. Further investigation showed ele...
